Christmas Shopping – Tips and Advice

There are not Christmas queues and the weather is dry fine and warm, making your Christmas shopping a more enjoyable experience.
? Leave it until Christmas Eve! The shops are desperate by this time and slash they prices incredibly. It is a bit of mad dash but all the Christmas stress is confined to a single 24 hours.
? Buy online. Quick and convenient, no queuing, no trying to find car parking, no terrible weather. Plus many retailers offer discounts for online orders, which means you save money too!
Many people are worried about security and credit card fraud when buying online. Of course this is a worry, nobody wants to be the victim of credit card fraud. However, there are some steps you can take to keep your online shopping experience as safer transaction as possible.
When buying online, only use reputable retailers. This maybe a high street retailer who have an online shopping facilities or a large online store. Maybe a friend has recommended a particular website that they have purchased goods from in the past. Some online shops state how long they have been trading. If a store has been trading online for a number of years, and is well established, this is a good indicator of a reputable store.
When shopping online you inevitably end up at the ‘check out’. This is the point where the store will ask you for your name, postal address and credit or debit card details. This is the time when credit card fraud is a danger.
To protect yourself look for a padlock icon in the status bar at the bottom of the window on the actual ‘check out’ page, where the website is asking you to submit your details. This padlock mean that this page of the website has a secure connection, so any information that you submit on this page will not be decipherable to anyone else, it will be encrypted. If there is not a padlock, it is not a secure connection despite what the actual web page content may say.
You can still submit your details, However, you do significantly increase the risk of becoming a victim of credit card fraud.
Our advice would be to contact the website and ask them to provide you with a secure payment page, or shop elsewhere.
However you do your Christmas shopping this year, Enjoy your experience and keep your card details safe.

Christmas Shopping For Your Employees
September 3, 2010 by admin
If you are the boss at your company and you and your company have had a successful year financially, you may want to share some of that success by purchasing Christmas gifts for your employees. However, Christmas shopping for your employees is not an easy task. There are a number of factors which contribute to the difficulty of the situation. The number of employees is one such factor. You may have a large number of employees and they may not share similar interests making it difficult to decide on a gift. Additionally, you may be concerned with the prospect of employees talking about their gifts and jealousy arising if it is believed some employees received more expensive or better gifts than others. This article will discuss some of these concerns and will offer tips for dealing with these dilemmas.
Favoritism is a serious issue which all bosses should carefully consider when Christmas shopping for their employees. Bosses should assume the gifts they give to their employees will be discussed and compared so it is wise to not purchase any gifts which will be viewed as favoritism. One way to avoid this problem is to purchase the same item for each of the employees. This may seem impersonal but office politics often takes precedence over sentiment and in this case it is wise to give each employee the same item to avoid any potential problems. The boss may opt to give more expensive items to hiring ranking employees. This is an acceptable practice as long as each employee on the same tier is given the same gift and employees on higher tiers are given more expensive gifts than employees on lower tiers.
Bosses also have to consider finances when Christmas shopping for gifts for their employees. This is a particularly important concern especially in cases where the boss has a large number of employees working for him. In this case the boss may have to consider giving only small token gifts due to the large number of employees. If he is paying for these gifts out of his own pocket, it is not reasonable to expect him to purchase extravagant gifts for many employees. If the boss is receiving a bonus for his hard work during the year, he may make a decision to allot a percentage of his bonus to the purpose of purchasing Christmas gifts for his employees as a way to show his appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. In some cases, the company may even allow their high ranking employees to expense the purchase of Christmas gifts for employees because it is viewed as a method of keeping morale high and retaining employees. In this case the boss should review the company policy and determine how much it is acceptable to spend on each employee before doing his Christmas shopping to ensure he will not be violating any company policies in making his purchases.
Another difficulty bosses often face when Christmas shopping for their employees is selecting a gift which will be appropriate for all of the employees. This can be a difficult task because the boss may have a wide range of employees working for him with varying interests. As previously discussed, it is considered a good idea to purchase the same gift for each employee instead of choosing a distinct gift for everyone. While this makes shopping easier in one capacity by ensuring the boss only has to select one gift, it complicates the Christmas shopping process by tasking the boss to select one gift which will be universally appreciated by all of the employees in the office. Examples of some gifts which are generally appreciated by all may include items with the company logo such as sweatshirts, mugs or other office items. These gifts are not only practical but also help to promote a sense of pride in the company. Gift certificates are also always appreciated. Gift certificates to local restaurants or business or online retailers are gifts which are likely to be appreciated and valued by all.

Christmas season is fast approaching, this year avoid the Christmas rush and start shopping for gifts to your family and friends as early as October. Most of us are guilty of cramming and buying a gift for the sake of giving one. Or you might give a present then days later you’ll be filled with guilt or regret for overspending over it because you know it does not suit the recipient. In any occasion, gifts are supposed to be given as a symbol that you remembered a person on that certain special event.
In every occasion there are appropriate gifts to be given but for Christmas, its a no holds bar time for gift giving. Below are some tips for the early Christmas shoppers.
1. Create a list of your gift recipients along with their interests, hobbies, wants that could give you a hint. You can browse several classifieds or personalized gift sites online to get an idea on gift suggestions and its price.
2. Be creative and aware of the host’s taste and interest. It is important that your gift would represent you but it should be useful for the recipient as well.
3. After gathering a list of your family, friends and their interests, the next task is searching for gift. You can try shopping online and on bazaars instead of the usual traditional malls since the former offers limited stocks on their products.
4. A good idea for shopping for Christmas is to buy personalized gifts. This will take time since you have to analyze each family member of friend’s personality, hobbies, interests and needs, so it is advisable to start taking notes and shopping as early as October. Personalized gifts are often the most pleasant and memorable present that a person can receive. With the variety of stores and advent of online shopping, buying and giving a personalized gift is easy, fast and convenient
5. Keep track and stay on budget. Gifts doesn’t need to be very expensive or too big, most of the time simplicity is the key. Allot a budget for your Christmas shopping and follow it, because you have the start the new year with enough cash.
Start shopping for Christmas early to save time, effort and buy better gifts. A simple gift can be valuable to the recipient if you have added a personal touch to it. And don’t forget to enjoy the whole process of finding, buying and giving a gift to your family and friends.

Waiting to the last minute to go Christmas shopping can make you panic. A lot of stores may sell out of the gifts that you were thinking of getting. So, what I’m going to do is share with you some gifts to buy if you’re doing some last minute Christmas shopping.
That way, you won’t have to worry about not being able to buy gifts.
The gifts to buy if you are doing some last minute Christmas shopping are:
1. Movies/DVDs. This is a great gift to get someone. There are a lot of hit movies coming out this month. Also, there are a few stores that will have a sale on them. Some of the sales include getting movies 4 for $20 and 2 for $20. Which is a good price.
2. iTunes. This is another great gift to buy if you’re doing last minute Christmas shopping. You can buy movies, music, and TV shows on iTunes for the iPod. If you are getting a gift for someone who has an iPod, this will be a great gift for them.
3. Amazon Gift Cards. This is probably the best last minute gift to get someone. You can have Amazon email it to the person you are buying it for, which is great. Especially if you are buying a gift on Christmas Eve or if you’re getting someone a gift who lives far away from you.

Christmas Shopping Ideas That Count
August 25, 2010 by admin
I’d really like to make Christmas count this year. So I’m doing my Christmas shopping a little differently.
ONLINE – For all of the years that I’ve had an online business, I’ve never done my Christmas shopping online.
I picked my father in laws name for Christmas, he is an avid golfer so I went online to find something great for golfing instead of the usual (and useless) golf stuff. I found this set of “Birdie Balls” that are great to practice with at home. I’m sure he’s going to really enjoy it. I thought it was such a great idea that I got one for my son who also likes golf and gets bored around the house (when he’s home!) and also a set for my nephews.
Something useful – entertaining and something to get them out of the house – and it took me about 20 minutes while I was having my morning tea.
CANADA: http://www.albatrossgolfsupply.com
US – Birdie Ball Website with lots of stuff and gold tips: http://www.birdieball.com
MAKE IT YOURSELF – Do something a little different and make some natural skincare items for your family. My work at home business is selling ingredients – it’s easy and fun. A lot of women do it, and sell their items to make some Christmas cash, or bump up their earnings through out the year. Makes a great gift for the “crafty” person you know.http://www.handmadesoap.ca
WHAM PRODUCTS – The first thought that came to my mind was that in supporting other WHAM’s we will help give every body a nice Christmas, and we will, but maybe the best thing is the feeling of accomplishment we will be giving the mom’s who work so hard on their business so that they can be home, and boosting their rate of success.
Here is one website that lists WHAM sites http://www.wahmtalkradio.com/christmas-gifts/
Within a day or two I hope to have some handmade natural skin care sites listed on my blog at
http://time-management-at-home.blogspot.com Meantime pop in anyway!
CRAFT SALES – You can get some amazing bargains and some really unique stuff. It’s fun and a nice chance to see some friends in your local community. Even better than that, you are making a real difference to the ladies and gentlemen who are selling at the craft sales. I know from experience that these people work extremely hard, for some of them, this is their “big thing” for the year and every sale means a lot to them. (I went to one yesterday, got some amazing things at amazing prices, had a great time with my daughter (we made it a date and went out for breakfast first) and felt really good for supporting the local people who work so hard to get it ready)
SCHOOL BAZAAR – Why not support your community schools and get something different? Donations are always welcome as well. I usually donate soap and there is no better feeling than hearing from a mom who got some of my soap for Christmas from her child – and they go like hotcakes. Think tinsel when decorating, the kids love them! Also, consider volunteering to help out, it is a hoot to watch the kids do their Christmas shopping.
GIFT A STRANGER – For years I wanted to do something for people who don’t have much but had no idea what to do. Now there are some great online opportunities to do just that. There is a program called Embrace-a-Family that looks amazing, I will be donating to it and I hope that you can do the same. We also as a family – my inlaws, myself and each of my kids contributed to this one as well – giving to those in need is one of the best feelings that you can give to your kids.
http://www.ccfcanada.ca/managed/Default.aspx
I’ve been contributing to this charity monthly for about 10 years and have really enjoyed it. Right now we have a little girl who is my daughter’s age and even looks a bit like her, so it is really fun.
TIRES – Sounds odd but I have never forgotten a TV special about winter tires and a mother who’s daughter was killed because her car slid backwards off a hill and over a cliff, the consensus was that if she had proper tires it wouldn’t have happened. Do you have kids who drive their own cars? At home or moved out. Driving your grandkids around? Splurge and take their car in for a new set. I know I won’t drive without decent tires anymore. A few close calls with proper tires is bad enough!
ECO SHOPPING
There are countless environmentally friendly choices that you can make this year, the good news is that most of them seem to be healthy choices as well.
But remember when you are shopping to bring a bag or a tote instead of getting overdone with plastic bags this year.
My personal pet peeve is plastic bags. I ask for paper at the grocery store, we are lucky to have the choice. I use the bags to wrap boxes that I ship so they do double duty. If I didn’t, I would either be bringing my own reusable, or I would be getting some of those nifty plastic boxes that many grocery stores sell. Or you can buy some totes especially for that. I love the idea because you can keep them in your van or trunk, they can be useful for a variety of things and to keep your vehicle clean and organized. And you can use the lids to keep your groceries cold and dust free.
A great idea all around! The Green Guide blog has an article on it below.

KEEP THEM MOVING
Anything to keep your kids active is great.
We where lucky to get a second hand snowboard in kid’s size for my 9 year old daughter. My 16 year old son is an avid snowboarder and amazingly enough, they like to go out on our hill together. So now she will have her own “real snowboard” and she won’t care one bit that it is used. I am happy that she will be out in the fresh air having fun with her brother, getting some great exercise and getting another skill under her belt.
I haven’t personally seen them, but I think that they have video games out now that you use your whole body to do the moves, I think that would be great fun.
TIME
Take your kids out for a fun activity, maybe something you don’t normally do – bowling, cross country skiing, skating are a few fun things that are relatively inexpensive. Have a Blast and make some Christmas memories and traditions.
MOST OF ALL
Take the time to remember the people you love this Christmas, and who love you. Sometimes a phone call is priceless (not to be a bummer, but the person you are calling won’t always be here to answer the phone, do it while you can and make a memory)
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A MOST EXCELLENT NEW YEAR!

Christmas Shopping for Presents- How to Best the Rush When Shopping Online
August 19, 2010 by admin
Christmas has always been a time of joy and celebration. Shopping for Christmas presents has always been part of this and for most, this can be a rather stressful part of Christmas. It is the time of year where you are not only buying just the one gift for that one occasion, such as a birthday or an anniversary, but it is the time of year, when you may have a dozen people to buy for. In this short article, I want to give some of my suggestions to how you can minimise this stress.
Start early and plan ahead- this may seem an obvious suggestion, but you will be surprised at how many of us still fall victim of ‘last minute shopping’ syndrome. I can not stress enough that if you plan ahead and start your Christmas shopping early, this is the one of the most important factors in alleviating that stress. Planning ahead does not mean that you need to in fact do any shopping at all. I would suggest you do the following to plan ahead:
- make a list of all the people you need to buy for and ask each person to give you a wish list of what they would like. Look for good shopping sites that have the wish list function. A ‘wish list’ feature, as the names implies, allows the recipient to send through to you a list of gifts they like.
- while you are surfing the net for inspiration, make a point of book marking sites and products that you would go back to and shop at. This will save you a huge amount of time at a later stage.
Buy and receive your goods early- It would be wise to beat the shopping rush in the 2 weeks leading up to Christmas, where literally hundreds of thousand of items are being put through the postal system, hence a much higher chance of delay or even good lost in the post. Why get caught up in all that?
Make the most of gift wrap service- for a nominal fee, there are many online shops who offer a gift wrap service. This can do wonders to easing the time you have to spend on gift wrapping all your presents. In order to save on cost, you may even chose to have some of your gifts wrapped and the others to be done yourself- as the saying goes, every little helps.
These suggestions really are simple, often obvious, but yet effective ways to beat the rush and stay ahead!
Happy Christmas Shopping to you all!

The Best Place to Do Your Christmas Shopping
August 16, 2010 by admin
Christmas shopping is considered an absolute thrill by some people, while others see it as a necessary evil.If the thought of tackling hordes of Christmas shoppers fills you with dread then why not stay at home and do your Christmas shopping there.
These days the Internet puts Christmas shopping at your fingertips, with many traditional stores setting up an online store to encourage you to spend money online. In some cases you will be able to find a wider range of merchandise at a retailer’s online store, and even be able to get discounts on this Christmas’ hottest items.
Internet shopping also gives you access to stores and speciality boutiques that are based in locations you wouldn’t usually be able to visit.
If you plan to shop online this Christmas then make sure you start early to make sure your ordered gifts will be delivered in time for Christmas. Most stores will clearly post their cut off days on the homepage so make sure you check before ordering.
If you prefer to shop the old-fashioned way then the local mall is a popular place to get all of your Christmas and holiday shopping done. Malls are a one-stop shopping mecca with a wide selection of stores and merchandise. They will be beautifully decorated for Christmas and many have festive displays and offer the opportunity for your kids to meet Santa Claus.
To maximise your mall shopping experience take the time to see which stores are located at your local mall and what kind of merchandise each store offers. Some stores will offer exclusive brands while others will be more moderately priced.
An interesting place to shop when at the malls is at the standalone kiosks which are likely to carry one-of-a-kind items which will often inspire ideas for unique Christmas gifts.
For the bargain hunters among you visit your local Outlet Mall. At these locations you will find stores offering clearance items from the main mall at cit down prices.
Finally don’t forget your local retailers who often have unique merchandise and offer a more personal service. Support your local businesses this Christmas.

Christmas Shopping is Upon Us
August 13, 2010 by admin

Well, well, well, it is that time of year again and once again we sigh at the seemingly overwhelming thoughts of the dreaded Christmas shopping. And yet, do we? There is something special about the stereo typical last minute testosterone mall invasion late on the 23rd and early on the 24th. My favorite Christmas shopping was always for her. Hmm, come to think of it, my favorite presents I received were always the ones ‘ for him ‘.
Personally I have lived this, each and every year I can remember, until last year! I was working for a major American company, in Europe, and while I did get to do some last minute shopping, in my traditional manner, most gifts were going to people on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Sigh, 25% sales tax plus shipping, CRAP!!! That was when I first discovered the wonders of internet shopping on a major scale. I made online purchases, delivered to my sister in Montana and she in turn re-mailed them to the various people on my Christmas list after she wrapped the ones that didn’t come wrapped from the stores. First off, I saved a whole bunch on sales tax alone and don’t even get me started on the shipping costs from Denmark!!! I not only saved money, I saved time.
Today, my wife and I are starting a small service company in Phoenix, Arizona and we are pretty busy these days. Our money is not what it was even a month ago, it takes time to develop any business, and Christmas shopping just won’t wait another 2 months. So we dived into our own website, www.dfineonline.com and we proudly just finished our Christmas shopping for this year. On top of how easy it was to shop, the discounts were fantastic.
I know she will read this article, but I won’t tell her what her presents from both Frederick’s of Hollywood and perfumeworldonline are, he he. By the way, the links to these and other feminine gift suppliers are in our ‘ for her ‘ section.
I managed to get something for my dog, Lucky, I know I am an idiot, both my mom and dad, and no, none of that is from Frederick’s and a few gifts for some really cool kids and grownups. It was easy for me, I had already researched the companies, bought things from them in the past and I am completely finished with my Christmas shopping! Damn, I am breaking with tradition!
It should be noted that some companies will now wrap your presents and you can usually get free shipping direct to its final destination. Now, you can still go and enjoy the post office this holiday season, but it won’t be because you have to.
What I am trying to do with this article, is save you from the time it takes to search and shop from major brand name stores and companies by placing a neat and well rounded list of companies where you simply click your way to the companies’ web sites. The research is done for you. Should you choose to take my advice and actually do some Christmas Shopping from any of these companies, I would really like to hear from you. My email address is twelvebravo@hotmail.com (12B) is my old US Army job, meaning combat engineer.
Whether you do your shopping from www.dfineonline.com or not, may your Christmas be special, may your shopping be easy and may Santa be really really good to you this year.
Oh, one last thing, as much as it hurts, let’s all use as much money on Christmas this year, as we can, and show the world that the American buyer has not lost faith and we buy what we buy because we want to and American’s have never scared easy!!! Besides, if we don’t buy, we lose jobs and that is just plain wrong at Christmas time!
